Guwahati: The father of doctor Prayash Singhal has accused a woman and her husband of blackmailing his son.Singhal, an ICU physician, was found dead in the ICU of a private hospital in Guwahati on Wednesday in a case that is suspected by police to be a suicide.His father, Sanjeev Singhal, filed a complaint with Bhangagarh police on Friday, alleging that the woman harassed and threatened his son.According to the complaint, Singhal became acquainted with the woman last year, and they later entered into a consensual relationship. He allegedly sought to end it after learning that she was married and had a child. However, she continued contacting him through phone calls and texts, the complaint stated.The family alleged that the woman threatened to harm herself and visited Singhal’s workplace several times. Her husband also allegedly went to the hospital and threatened Singhal in June and Aug.Singhal’s father said the repeated calls, messages and threats affected his son’s mental well-being.The family approached Bhangagarh police on Aug 19. Police later registered an FIR against the woman and her husband. The allegations are under investigation.
