Gurgaon: A house party turned into a crime thriller after a seven-member gang, including a woman, allegedly barged into a flat posing as a Delhi Police special team, flashed forged identity cards, held a group of friends hostage and demanded Rs 25 lakh to spare them from being framed in criminal cases.Their plan, however, collapsed when one of the victims secretly shared his live location, allowing friends to track the gang down, overpower four of its members and hand them over to the real cops.The incident unfolded around midnight on July 29 at Ansal Heights in Sector 86. By the time a Kherki Daula police team reached the society after receiving a PCR call about commotion in the flat, the fake cops had already been exposed and four of them were in the custody of partygoers.Police said the gang had allegedly targeted the flat after receiving information that the host, Nitin — a resident of Kalkaji in Delhi — belonged to a well-off family and regularly organised gatherings with friends.According to the complaint, the woman first rang the doorbell. The moment the door opened, six men entered behind her, identified themselves as members of a ‘Delhi Police special team’ and claimed they had come to conduct a raid. Carrying fake identity cards, they allegedly confined everyone inside the flat, assaulted some of the occupants and threatened to implicate them in criminal cases unless Rs 25 lakh was paid.To ensure the money was arranged quickly, the alleged mastermind, Rishi of Rohtak, took one of the partygoers, Sagar, in a Suzuki Fronx to collect the cash. Two associates followed in a Rajasthan-registered Swift Dzire, while the remaining four accused stayed back in the flat, allegedly holding the others hostage and threatening to kill them if the demand was not met.The plan began to fall apart when Sagar sensed something was amiss. Without alerting the gang, he shared his live location with his friend Jagrit. Jagrit and his associates traced the vehicle, confronted the accused and triggered a scuffle. Amid the chaos, Rishi escaped in the Swift Dzire, but the four accomplices who had remained at the flat were overpowered and handed over to police.Those arrested were Satvinder (46), Tinu (42), Naveen (40) and Sneha alias Sana (21), all from Rohtak. Three forged Delhi Police ID cards were recovered from them. During questioning, the accused allegedly told police that Rishi had procured the fake IDs and recruited them after claiming the party organiser came from a wealthy family.A case was registered under sections 191(2), 190, 115(2), 308, 204, 319(2), 127(2) and 351(3) of BNS. Sneha was remanded in judicial custody, while the three male accused were sent to four days’ police custody.“We reached the flat after receiving information about some disturbance. By then, the complainant and his friends had already overpowered four accused and handed them over to us,” police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said.Police said efforts are underway to trace Rishi, identify others involved in the conspiracy and establish the source of the forged identity cards.
