Gurgaon: Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) on Friday sealed five buildings in Sushant Lok-1’s B Block for allegedly running unauthorised commercial activities from residential premises. They included two 14-room paying guest (PG) facilities, a 16-room guest house, a basement clinic and a building housing commercial offices.The team sealed B-466 and B-401, where PG facilities with 14 rooms each were operating, and a 16-room guest house at B-405. It also demolished an unauthorised structure in the stilt parking area of a guest house. At B-429, officials found a clinic operating in the basement and sealed the building. B-362 was sealed after the team found commercial activities, including a law firm office and a photo studio, operating from the premises.The action is part of the department’s continuing drive against the use of residential properties in licensed colonies for activities that violate approved land use and planning norms. PGs, guest houses, offices and other commercial establishments operating from residential buildings have been the main targets. In Sushant Lok, the drives have addressed unauthorised commercial use and construction, with action ranging from sealing premises to removing unauthorised structures, depending on the violations found during inspections.The drive was led by district town planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia, with assistant town planner Divya Dahiya also present. Madholia said residential properties in licensed colonies must be used in accordance with applicable regulations and approved norms. “Action against those operating PGs, guest houses, offices and other commercial establishments in residential buildings in violation of the rules will continue,” he said.
