Ludhiana: Police have registered a murder case against a Jalandhar man after the body of his 29-year-old friend was discovered in a maize field near the Sutlej river.Jaswinder Singh Ekam was found dead with injury marks on his arm and back at Maddepur village on Monday. His brother, Sukhwinder Singh, reported that the accused, Jashandeep Singh Kalu, had stayed at their home on May 1 before leaving with Jaswinder the following morning.When Jaswinder failed to return, the family launched a search, eventually confronting Kalu at a pigeon-flying event on May 3. Sukhwinder alleged that Kalu had provided evasive answers regarding his brother’s whereabouts. Subsequent inquiries led the family to believe Kalu took Jaswinder to Gobindpur on a motorcycle before allegedly pushing him off the vehicle, causing fatal injuries.The suspect then reportedly dumped the body in the field and fled. Sidhwan Bet station house officer (SHO), sub-inspector Amarjit Singh, confirmed that a murder case had been registered against Kalu.
