Rajkot: A 46-year-old man lodged a complaint alleging that his 15-year-old daughter was repeatedly raped over the last three months by a neighbour, in the Jamnagar Road area of the city.University police station registered a case against the accused under Sections 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 64(2) (rape under aggravated circumstances) and 65(1) (punishment for rape) of the BNS, along with Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.Accused threatened to kill survivor’s familyAccording to the complaint, three months ago the accused cornered the girl. The neighbour first molested the underage girl by grabbing her hand and later repeatedly forced himself on her, threatening to kill her if she spoke out.Taking advantage of the minor being alone, the neighbour forcibly dragged her into his house, locked the door and raped her. He threatened her, saying, “If you tell your family or anyone else about this, I will kill you and your family.”Terrified by the death threats, the girl remained silent while the accused continued to sexually assault her. After enduring severe trauma for months, the survivor — who has studied up to Class 7 — finally confided in her family, leading to the complaint.Police launch manhuntSpeaking to TOI, investigating officer C N Dave confirmed that the statements of both the survivor and her father have been recorded.“Police are currently gathering evidence for the investigation. We have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused using human intelligence and technical surveillance,” stated Dave.
