Noida: Noida Authority will develop a 500m-long flyover on the Noida Expressway to improve connectivity across the expressway between sectors 148, 149, 150, 151, 152 and 153. The project, estimated to cost Rs 85 crore, is aimed at improving direct cross-expressway connectivity and easing traffic movement in the area.Commuters use an existing underpass in the area beneath the expressway to cross from one side to the other. The underpass is relatively narrow, making it difficult for vehicles to pass smoothly, particularly during rush-hour traffic. The problem is compounded during the monsoon, when the underpass gets flooded, disrupting movement.Officials said the project will benefit around two lakh people living in these sectors and 20 nearby villages. The flyover will provide a more direct route for local traffic while reducing dependence on the existing underpass.Noida Authority’s general manager AK Arora said they were planning the project keeping in mind the rapid development taking place in and around Sector 150, where several residential projects are in the works.“Sports facilities are also being developed in Sports City Sector 150. Traffic pressure in the area is expected to increase further in the coming days. Considering this, we have decided to develop a flyover connecting Sectors 148 and 150,” he said.In April this year, Noida Authority’s board approved a revised layout for the Sports City project and lifted the blanket ban imposed on Sports City projects in 2021, clearing the way for nearly 20,000 homebuyers across stalled projects to potentially get possession and registry of their flats. The move was in compliance with a Supreme Court directive issued in Nov 2025 and ended a freeze that had blocked map approvals, building plan revalidations and occupancy certificates for Sports City projects. The Noida Expressway currently has two flyovers going across — the Mahamaya Flyover and another in Sector 128. The Authority has developed several underpasses, including those at Sector 96, Kondli village, Advant and Sector 148, to facilitate cross-expressway movement. Two more underpasses are under construction at Jhatta and Sultanpur villages.
