Gurgaon: Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has directed DLF to keep a regular watch on vacant residential plots in DLF 3 following complaints of misuse and report any violations to the department for action.In a letter to the developer on the misuse of vacant residential plots in licensed colonies of DLF in the city, DTCP said it had received complaints about vacant residential plots in DLF 3. After verification, the department issued show-cause notices to the owners of plot numbers MA-38 and MA-39 and enclosed copies of the notices with its communication to DLF.DTCP sought the developer’s cooperation in identifying and reporting such violations. It noted that maintenance and provision of essential services in the licensed residential plotted colonies continue to remain with DLF, as these colonies have not yet been handed over to MCG.“Any such violation, misuse of plots or buildings may be regularly monitored and brought to the notice of DTCP office for taking further necessary action,” the department stated.The direction is significant as vacant residential plots may be vulnerable to activities or construction that do not conform to permitted land use or planning norms. DTCP’s communication indicated that it expects DLF to take an active role in monitoring such properties until formal handover.A resident of DLF 3 said regular checks were needed, especially in areas where plots remain unused for long periods. “A vacant plot should not become a blind spot for enforcement. If there is any misuse, it should be identified at an early stage rather than waiting for residents to complain,” he said.Another resident said the matter underlined the need for clearer accountability among agencies. “Residents need to know whom to approach when they see misuse. If DLF is responsible for maintenance and monitoring until handover, there should be a proper mechanism for complaints and quick action,” the resident said.The show-cause notices issued to the owners of MA-38 and MA-39 show that DTCP has initiated proceedings in the two cases after verifying the complaints. Further action will depend on their replies and the department’s subsequent assessment.
