Lokayukta police apprehended a Central GST official accepting a bribe
BENGALURU: Lokayukta police on Thursday trapped a Central-GST- official while accepting a bribe of Rs eight lakhs through a middleman.The accused GST official is identified Mohit Pratap Singh and police arrested Singh along with his agent identified as Salman Sheik.According to Lokayukta police, Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakhs from a businessman dealing with iron materials, to close a case registered against the businessman.“The complaint made against the businessman for evading tax was a false complaint. To close it, Singh demanded Rs 20 lakhs and finally agreed to Rs eight lakhs from the businessman. Singh was trapped inside his office with the cash,” Lokayukta police said.
