CMRS completes Pink Line safety inspection in Bengaluru
Once elevated pink line becomes opens for public city will have operational network of 103 km of Namma Metro line.

Bengaluru: Commissioner of Metro railway safety (CMRS), southern circle, Thursday completed the three-day statutory safety inspection of Metro’s 7.5-km elevated Pink Line between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere.BMRCL said V Venkatasubramanian and team conducted a motor trolley inspection of the main line and associated infrastructure Tuesday. The next day, they checked Kothanur depot facilities and conducted train trials, testing and another motor trolley inspection. The operations control centre at Byappanahalli was inspected Thursday.BMRCL had obtained a speed certificate from Research Designs and Standards Organisation in Aug 2026 and railway board subsequently granted provisional sanction for rolling stock, while the independent safety assessor certified the signalling system.CMRS inspection is a statutory safety assessment required before authorisation to open the section for public service. CMRS will issue authorisation subject to compliance with observations and conditions stipulated during the inspection.Once the elevated Pink Line opens, Metro’s operational network will expand from 96.1km to 103.6km. The corridor will improve connectivity along Bannerghatta Road and adjoining areas and strengthen Bengaluru’s public transport network.The elevated section has six stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere.
