Bengaluru: Bringing relief to many class 12 CBSE students, the revaluation results have led to a significant increase in marks for a large number of applicants. Several schools reported that almost all students who sought revaluation saw their scores improve.In some cases, the increase was substantial. Sarayu Sony, a student of Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Bengaluru, gained 21 marks in her English paper after revaluation. “When the original results were announced, I was shocked. After obtaining the photocopy of my answer script, I noticed several gaps in evaluation and instances of unfair marking. Though I had written the points according to the marking scheme, I had been under-awarded. I was therefore quite confident that my marks would improve after revaluation,” she said. Her English score has risen from 72 to 93.“My marks are important for college admissions and the scholarship scheme, as well as for competitive exams in the future,” she said.National Public School, Yeshwantpur, principal Sheeja Manoj said the high achievers of the school have finally received the marks they deserved. “These were all high scorers, whom we knew would have done much better. Three students got centum in English. Others have got close to full marks. It is important that they receive the marks they are eligible for. The maximum difference that has come is 10 marks,” she said.“We have had a student whose mark went up to 93 from 79 in economics. There are others who received centum after revaluation,” said Delhi Public School East principal Manila Carvelho.Her counterpart in the North campus, Manju Balasubramanyam, said the average increase in marks is 7-9 across subjects; the maximum increase is 13-15. “The students who have raised concerns of handwriting mismatch are yet to get the results. All the others who applied received an increase in marks,” she said.CBSE had announced Sunday that it was releasing the results of 87% of the students who had applied for revaluation. This year’s the board’s results were marred by controversy after physical evaluation was replaced by on-screen marking.
