Noida: Two people were injured after a speeding car lost control and smashed into another vehicle on Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida on Saturday. The car then overturned, trapping the driver underneath. The accident briefly disrupted traffic, leading to long queues of vehicles before teams from Dankaur police station cleared the road.Police said Krishna Kant, a resident of Khoda in Ghaziabad, was travelling towards Agra when his car collided with another vehicle moving ahead of him on the expressway. The impact of the collision was so severe that Krishna Kant’s car overturned and landed in the middle of the expressway. The other vehicle was also damaged.Krishna Kant became trapped beneath his overturned car following the crash. Police personnel carried out a rescue operation and managed to pull him out. The driver of the second car also suffered injuries in the collision.Both injured drivers were rushed to Govt Institute of Medical Sciences in Greater Noida, where they are undergoing treatment. Police said their condition is being monitored by doctors.A crane was deployed to remove the damaged vehicle from the carriageway, after which traffic movement was restored.Station house officer of Dankaur police station said that preliminary investigation suggests overspeeding was the primary cause of the accident. However, an inquiry is underway to ascertain the sequence of events.Officers added that no written complaint has been received from either party so far. They have appealed to motorists using the Yamuna Expressway to strictly adhere to the prescribed speed limit, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and drive cautiously to prevent such accidents.
