Fake PAN card used in private firm officer’s name in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Police registered an FIR after a man complained that unknown persons had misused his personal details, photograph and documents to fraudulently create and use a PAN card.Sayan Guha, 42, senior officer in a private firm, told police unknown persons misused his photograph, mobile number and other personal records/documents to fraudulently obtain and use the PAN card (no. DHFPS6843N). Sayan said his original PAN number is different. He categorically told police he never applied for or use PAN card (DHFPS6843N) nor did he authorise any individual or entity to create or use it on his behalf. The alleged misuse has left Sayan concerned that the disputed PAN card may have been used for financial, business, tax, banking or other transactions. He fears if such transactions were carried out using the disputed PAN, they could potentially result in financial liabilities, adverse records or other consequences being wrongly attributed to him.The complaint points to an earlier business dispute that he feels may be relevant to the circumstances surrounding the identity misuse. Sayan stated that in 2016, he was involved in a business venture with two friends. Due to an alleged fraud, a case was filed by him in May 2017. Sayan claimed that in light of the earlier dispute, he has reasons to suspect the involvement of his earlier partner.A case was registered under the Information Technology Act at Annapoorneshwarinagar police station.
