Body of PWD watchman found in Manimajra forest area

Times News NetworkChandigarh: A 25-year-old man was found murdered in the forest area near a petrol pump in Manimajra on Saturday morning. A leather belt was tied around the neck of the deceased, Krishan Pandey. The body was found in semi-naked condition. The victim, a resident of Mauli Jagran, worked as a watchman in the PWD office behind the forest area on the road opposite Kalagram. He worked the 8pm to 5am shift and would return home between 8am and 9am every day, said Anand Pandey, brother of the deceased. On Saturday, when Krishan did not come home by 9.30am, his wife Khushbu went to her brother-in-law and expressed serious concern. Anand said he called one of Krishan’s co-workers, who told him that he had left and would reach home shortly. After some time, Khushbu received a call from an unknown number asking her to rush to the forest area. They reached the spot to find Krishan’s body, which bore injury marks. Teams of the police, CFSL and dog squad inspected the crime scene. Sources said police have taken two suspects, Monu and Moni, into custody for interrogation. The last call Krishan received was from Monu. Sources also said that Anand is being questioned. There are no CCTV cameras in the forest area, police said.
