Dhubri: Assam legislative assembly speaker and Bhawanipur-Sarbhog MLA Ranjit Kumar Dass interacted with residents of Raipur village on Barpeta Road on Saturday evening to discuss local issues and problems faced by them.The interaction programme was organised by the 13th West Howly Gaon Panchayat in association with booth Nos. 180 and 181 of Raipur village.Residents apprised Dass of several problems related to basic infrastructure and public services, including the poor condition of four roads in Raipur village, the need to construct a boundary wall around the local burial ground and improvements required at Arogya Mandir sub-centre.Dass assured the residents that the issues would be taken up and efforts made to resolve them at the earliest. “The problems raised by the people, particularly the four roads, the boundary wall of the burial ground and the Arogya Mandir, will be taken up and efforts will be made to ensure their solution in the coming days,” Dass said.The speaker also took note of complaints regarding the functioning of Arogya Mandir sub-centre. “If doctors can reach the Arogya Mandir on time, nurses should also ensure their presence on time. They must discharge their duties responsibly and remain available to people visiting the health centre for treatment,” Dass said, cautioning the staff to remain punctual.The interaction was aimed at bringing governance closer to the people and understanding their problems at the grassroots level, he said.Dass, while speaking to the people, resented the fact that, as informed, doctors were reportedly attending the health centre on time, but there were several complaints about nurses not being present as scheduled.“If doctors can reach the Arogya Mandir on time, the nurses should also ensure their presence on time. They must discharge their duties responsibly and remain available for the people who come to the health centre for treatment,” Dass said, cautioning the concerned staff to be punctual.The interaction was aimed at bringing governance closer to the people and understanding their problems at the grassroots level, he said.
