Noida: A 47-year-old man was arrested for allegedly beating his son to death with a bamboo stick following an argument over money for alcohol at their home in Tughlakpur village, Greater Noida, police said.Devendra allegedly assaulted his son Karan on June 21, leaving him with serious head injuries. Karan died during treatment the following day. Acting on local intelligence and electronic surveillance, police arrested Devendra near a drain bridge on the India Expo Mart-Tughlakpur road and seized the bamboo stick with which he had beaten Karan.Police said Devendra came home late at night on June 20 in an inebriated state and demanded money from Karan to buy more liquor.

When Karan refused to give him money, an argument broke out between them. Family members intervened and the matter appeared to have been resolved.Devendra left the house for the night; however, he returned around 5 am the next day. Soon, the argument between them resumed and he allegedly picked up a bamboo stick lying inside the house and struck his son on the head. It left Karan with serious injuries, and he was rushed to a hospital by his relatives, where he died during treatment on June 22.After his death, Karan’s mother filed a complaint at the Knowledge Park police station. Police registered an FIR under the BNS section relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.Police formed special teams to track Devendra, who had been on the run since the assault. Station house officer Vinod Kumar said a breakthrough came on Friday when the cops found him near the drain bridge between Expo Mart and Tughlakpur village. Police said he allegedly revealed the location of the bamboo stick used in the assault.
