Ghaziabad: A manager of a private bus company and a conductor suffered bullet wounds after two scooter-borne assailants fired multiple rounds at a bus near High-Tech College in Masuri on Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The bus was travelling from Usmanpur in Delhi to Usait in Badaun.Police said the incident took place around 10.40pm on Tuesday. The bullets shattered the bus’s windscreen and hit the manager, Kamruddin, in the shoulder and the conductor, Talib, on his hand. There were around 15 passengers in the bus at that time. After the incident, they deboarded the bus and arranged for vehicles themselves.A complaint was filed by the owner of the bus, Mohammed Arif, at Masuri police station. He told the cops he has two tourist buses that run from Delhi’s Pusta area to Badaun. His friend Kamruddin, who is from Badaun, works with him and manages the buses. A couple of days ago, they had a fight with Arsalan and a few other members of a Delhi-based extortion gang, which is led by Wasid. They had allegedly refused to give them ‘protection’ money. Police said that fight was settled in the presence of cops.Arif, in his complaint, wrote that his bus bearing the registration UP 15 FT 0038 had left with driver Sharifuddin, the conductor on the bus Talib, and his friend Kamruddin Ansari from Usmanpur on Sept 28 at 10 pm. “As soon as my bus came close to Wavecity Ghaziabad, Arsalan, along with one of his other associates, opened fire on my driver and conductor with the intention to kill them, due to which Talib and Kamruddin Ansari were hit by bullets. They are currently undergoing treatment at GTB Hospital, Delhi,” he wrote.DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said an FIR has been registered against Arsalan and an unidentified person for an attempt to murder. Several teams have been formed to nab them. “Initial investigation found that the accused had followed the bus from Delhi. When the bus stopped to pick the passenger near HI-Tech College, suddenly, the accused stopped their two-wheeler adjacent to the bus and started firing in which two people were injured,” he said.
