Jodhpur: The controversy over the upcoming film ‘Kala Hiran’, said to be based on Rajasthan’s high-profile blackbuck poaching case, has intensified after producer Amit Jyani alleged he received death threats from Pakistan-based numbers.Jyani lodged an FIR at Ratanada police station Thursday evening. SHO Dinesh Lakhawat Friday said a case has been registered and investigation is underway. In his complaint, Jyani said the caller threatened to kill him and warned him to withdraw from the ‘Kala Hiran’ project or face serious consequences. In a video statement, Jyani claimed he has been receiving threats for the past two years, including threats of beheading, murder, blowing up his house and petrol bomb attacks. He also said he had received similar threats earlier during the shooting of “Udaipur Files” in Udaipur and that the matter was reported to police at the time.Police said the caller identified himself as Shehzad Bhatti, claiming to be a gangster from Pakistan, and repeated the warning to abandon the film. Lakhawat said police are verifying the caller’s identity and tracing the origin of the calls.Jyani further alleged, without providing evidence, that the threats were made at the behest of actor Salman Khan. Police said no official evidence has been produced so far to support that claim.Separately, Salman Khan has moved court seeking prohibitory orders against Jyani to stop the film, which is based on the alleged poaching of blackbucks by Khan and other actors during the shooting of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ in Jodhpur in 1998.
