Kolkata: Emami Agrotech has been granted a shield against coercive action by Calcutta High Court in connection with a notice served by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) over the company’s use of its brand name ‘Emami Healthy & Tasty’.In his Oct 6 order, Justice Krishna Rao directed that no coercive action be taken against Emami Agrotech until the next date of hearing on Nov 25The FSSAI notice had alleged that use of the ‘Emami Healthy & Tasty’ brand name on edible oil products is misleading. Emami Agrotech challenged the notice before HC, saying that ‘Emami Healthy & Tasty’ is a duly registered trademark and that the notice was not issued in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
