During Rahul’s tribute, the Congress leader’s tweet about Atal Bihari Vajpayee causes controversy.

The remarks came at a time when Congress was busy highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to the samadhi of former prime minister and BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee to promote “the spirit of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.”

The timing of a Congress official’s controversial remarks about former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been questioned by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Gaurav Pandhi, the coordinator of the All India Congress Committee, launched an attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on the occasion of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday, claiming that the late BJP leader served as a “British informer” during the Quit India movement.

“In 1942, like all other members of the RSS, Atal Bihari Vajpayee boycotted the Quit India Movement and worked as a British Informer reporting against those who participated in the Andolan,” Pandhi wrote in a tweet that has since been removed.

“Vajpayee played a significant role in inciting mobs, whether it was the Nellie massacre or the destruction of Babri. There is a reason why today’s leaders of the BJP prefer to compare Modi to Gandhi, Patel, or other leaders of the Congress than to Savarkar, Vajpayee, or Golwalkar. They have the facts!” Added he.

The tweets from Pandhi came at a time when Congress was busy promoting Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming trip to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s samadhi, known as “Sadaiv Atal,” to pay floral tributes to the former PM “in keeping with the spirit of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.”

Shehzad Poonawalla, BJP national spokesperson, stated that deleting the tweet was insufficient and urged Congress to clarify its position and apologize for Pandhi’s remarks. “Or else we will be forced to believe that Shabd Pandhi ke, Soch Rahul Gandhi ki,” he added, calling for Pandhi’s dismissal.

Jitin Prasada, a minister from Uttar Pradesh who recently switched from the Congress to the BJP, inquired as to whether Pandhi’s remarks received “official sanction from the party.”

“Because of his unwavering dedication to the nation, leaders like Atalji have earned the love of the Indian people and the respect of leaders across political lines. Does the party have any official approval for this? Prasada posted a tweet.
