Bengaluru: Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) veterinary officers’ recruitment scam is widening, with many candidates reportedly confessing before Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and revealing details of the question paper leak, payments running into crores and exams purportedly being conducted at a villa in Devanahalli and other places.According to police, the candidates who allegedly paid money have surrendered before CID, confessing to the irregularities and turning witnesses in the case. The statements of at least four candidates have been recorded so far. They reportedly told investigators they received the question paper before the examination and were made to write it at different locations, including a villa in Devanahalli.The candidates struck deals at an office in Rajajinagar, with the amount allegedly ranging between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 80 lakh per candidate. Investigators are probing who collected the money, where the examinations were conducted and how the alleged question paper leak was executed.A senior officer said, “We have credible information about 25 candidates writing the exam in a villa. Many candidates are confessing to the crime and want to become witnesses. As of Tuesday evening, over 10 candidates have contacted investigators.”“We have seized cash from both IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar and Tumkur University syndicate member Basavaraj N Kannale. But we cannot reveal the exact amount at this stage of investigation,” a senior officer said.Kannale’s house searched (pix mailed for this)CID searched Kannale’s residence at Vinayak Layout in Sanjaynagar after obtaining a search warrant from the court. Officials reportedly seized a CCTV DVR and several important documents. Investigators are examining Kannale’s communications with candidates and Gangwar, as well as financial transactions linked to the recruitment process. The house has reportedly been seized and handed over to the court as part of investigation.Kannale had planned to fly to Kazakhstan from Delhi, but CID officials nabbed him Sunday. Probe has found a link between Gangwar and Kannale, who reportedly became acquainted while working in Bidar.CID is also probing allegations that Kannale used his political connections and his association with Gangwar to facilitate recruitment irregularities.Investigators are examining possible irregularities in 2023-24 gazetted probationers’ (DSP) recruitment examination as well. A photograph of Kannale with candidates, who appeared for the examination, has drawn attention.
