Sonari: Flood-affected students of Sonari College received Rs 1,000 each on Monday.Dibrugarh University Alumni Association (DUAA) and students of the department of pharmaceutical sciences, Dibrugarh University provided assistance.A five-member DUAA team visited the college and distributed the aid to 121 students whose homes were affected by floods and whose books and study materials were damaged.The college administration, assisted by faculty, identified the students, prepared the list of beneficiaries and facilitated the distribution.A DUAA representative said the initiative aimed to provide relief to students who suffered losses.“Many students have lost books and other study materials along with household belongings. We wanted to extend a small but meaningful support to help them resume their studies,” the representative said.The team interacted with students and enquired about the difficulties faced by them and their families after the floodwaters affected their homes.A Sonari College faculty member said the assistance would help students meet immediate academic requirements.“The students have suffered losses, particularly damage to their books and study materials. The support from the DUAA and the students of the department of pharmaceutical sciences will provide some relief to the affected students,” he said.
