Ajmer: Two cases of online fraud were registered Monday in Ajmer, including one in which a private school teacher was allegedly duped after being lured with the promise of high profits on an investment, police said. Police were investigating both matters.In the first case, Digvijay Singh, a teacher in a private school, reported that he saw an advertisement on social media and was added to a WhatsApp group. He alleged that the fraudster showed him investment plans and sent a scanner through which he transferred money.Singh said the fraudster returned a profit in the preliminary investment, and he earned Rs 10,000, but he was unable to withdraw the money. The fraudster then asked him to invest more, and Singh invested Rs 23,518, but he did not receive any money after that. He realised he was duped, called 1930 and registered his case.In the second case, a transporter and resident of Bawari in Ajmer, Narayan Jat, was allegedly duped of Rs 2 lakh. He received a call in which the caller said he needed a truck to transport material from Jodhpur to Karnataka.As Narayan’s trucks were busy, he later received a call from a transporter at Nagaur who said he could provide two trucks, as he had to bring material from Karnataka so that when the material was delivered in Karnataka, Narayan could use those trucks. Narayan then transferred Rs 2 lakh to the caller from Nagaur and waited for the material to be delivered in Karnataka.After the caller from Nagaur informed him by phone that delivery had been done, Narayan called the person in Jodhpur to collect his rent. The man in Jodhpur told him that no truck had come and no material had been delivered. Narayan again called the caller from Nagaur but received no reply and then registered a case of online fraud.
