Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that if India had a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi in 1947, the partition-related “massacre of lakhs of Hindus” would not have taken place.Addressing a programme at Digambar Akhara in Ayodhya on the 23rd death anniversary of Paramhans Ramchandra Das Ji Maharaj, which he linked with the 79th anniversary of Partition, chief minister blamed Congress for the country’s division.Yogi said that a leadership modelled on “Iron Man” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel or Prime Minister Modi would have prevented large-scale violence during Partition. He also referred to policy moves such as the abrogation of Article 370, developments related to Kashmir, and actions against Maoism and Naxalism, alleging that these steps caused discomfort to “certain forces” because, he claimed, such issues had been used to destabilise the country and generate “earnings”.Praising Prime Minister, CM said India’s global standing had improved and that Indian citizens travelling abroad now received greater respect than during UPA govt’s tenure. He said that during UPA period, Sanatan Dharma was not discussed in the same way and that projects such as Ram Temple in Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi had not been completed. He also cited Mathura-Vrindavan, saying the region had been developed and “adorned” in recent years.Continuing his attack on Congress, Yogi said the party prioritised power during the events of Aug 14, 1947, and claimed that its approach remained unchanged. He alleged that while political leaders raised concerns over incidents in India, they remained silent on killings of Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He also referred to riots in Sambhal, alleging that “killers of Hindus” received relief under Samajwadi Party govt.CM said Sambhal became a district about 30 years ago but did not see development. Referring to a court-ordered survey, he claimed unrest was created and Hindus were targeted. He cited past violence in 1976 and 1978, stating that 150 Hindus were killed, and alleged that in 1996 the then SP govt withdrew cases and that no perpetrators were punished.Yogi also spoke about a reported donation theft case linked to Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He said swift action was taken after the matter came to light and alleged that those who had earlier ordered firing on Ram devotees were again “conspiring” against the temple, in an apparent reference to SP. He urged vigilance against such forces and said those who “betray Ram” would be confronted “with full strength.”
