Rs 80cr suspected heroin seized in Guwahati, Punjab man held
Police said the consignment arrived from Manipur and was to be transported to Punjab

Guwahati: Assam Police’s Special Task Force seized 10.48 kg of suspected heroin, estimated to be valued at around Rs 80 crore, and arrested a Punjab man in Guwahati on Friday.Acting on intelligence, STF raided a rented apartment in the Six Mile area and arrested Hardeep Singh (38) of Ludhiana. Police said the consignment arrived from Manipur and was to be transported to Punjab.“He was staying at the rented apartment to receive the narcotics consignment and would leave for Punjab with it. He was in the city for the last three days. The consignment arrived from Manipur. He received the consignment in the city. Further investigation is ongoing,” additional SP Kalyan Kumar Pathak said.STF also seized an SUV, mobile phones, documents and other articles allegedly linked to the trafficking operation.A case was registered at STF police station under relevant legal provisions. Investigators are examining the seized materials to identify others involved and uncover the narcotics transportation and distribution network.The seizure came two days after Garchuk police arrested Goalpara residents Abdul Qadir and Sariful Islam following a drug bust at the city’s ISBT bus terminal. The heroin seized in that operation, which had also arrived from Manipur, was valued at around Rs 40 crore.
