Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday appealed to industrialists here to join hands with the govt to rebuild Bengal, stressing the need for the state’s industrial revival.“I look forward to your participation in rebuilding West Bengal, a state that once contributed immensely to the country’s economy. But that is now a part of history, and the state has lagged behind others due to the negative attitude of some people in office over the past few decades,” said the CM at the inauguration of the renovated and beautified Maharana Pratap Udyan on Loudon Street.Adhikari assured the state’s industrialists and businessmen, some of whom were present at the event, of the govt’s support. “Under a double-engine govt, West Bengal will reach its desired goal in industrial resurgence . We have no dearth of talent in the state,” Adhikari said.“We will work together,” he added as he pointed out the state would not discriminate on the basis of caste, creed or religion.Adhikari said his govt was receiving business and industry proposals from state-based industrialists and considered them opportunities for Bengal.Praising the Dhanuka Dhunseri Foundation’s move in reshaping McPherson Square, the CM said, “They have done a good job. This initiative will go a long way in encouraging others to undertake such benevolent work.”C K Dhanuka, managing trustee of the foundation, said they had created a walking track for morning and evening walkers. “I am happy that more and more visitors are coming to the park.
