Dibrugarh: Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar has visited flood-hit areas of Sivasagar district, joining relief and rehabilitation efforts as the state battles one of its worst floods in recent years.Partnering with the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF), Pednekar met displaced families, interacted with volunteers and helped distribute essential relief supplies.“Every flooded village reminds us that recovery doesn’t begin when the rain stops; it begins when help arrives,” she said, stressing that support is needed well beyond the immediate crisis.Pednekar has also urged the public to contribute to relief efforts, calling the situation severe and highlighting the need for food, shelter materials and sanitation supplies. She said the scale of the disaster has not received enough national attention.Her visit follows actor Randeep Hooda’s recent trip to Sivasagar, where he joined NGO Global Sikhs to distribute essentials, serve langar at a local gurdwara and meet families in relief camps.Other film personalities have contributed as well. Kartik Aaryan donated Rs 1 crore to the Assam CM’s Relief Fund, while Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap also made contributions.Official figures say the floods have displaced lakhs across Assam, and the death toll has reached 97. Rescue and relief operations continue in the worst-affected districts through govt agencies, volunteer groups and non-govt organisations.
