Hyderabad: Telangana govt will send 10-15 govt teachers on study tours abroad every year on the lines of IAS/IPS officers to acquire knowledge and upgrade their skills, chief minister A Revanth Reddy has announced.“The state govt is trying to improve the quality of education in govt schools and the state is spending Rs 1.08 lakh on each student,” he said on Thursday, while interacting with govt teachers who visited Finland and Germany under ‘Teacher International Exposure Visit and Educational Exchange’ programme.Revanth Reddy instructed officials to prepare an action plan for the upcoming academic year by Dec. The plan should be formulated by taking every mandal as a cluster.“Govt will resolve teachers’ issues and teachers’ unions should also fight with me over student concerns,” he said. “The plan should include what infrastructure schools in that mandal need, how many teachers are required, what steps are needed to improve teaching quality, and what must be done to attract children to govt schools,” he added.“The officials should create a dedicated website to collect and display suggestions and recommendations from various mandals,” he said.The CM said parents spend approximately ₹50,000 annually on children for their education in private schools and asked everyone to think why parents prefer private schools over govt ones. He said the enrolment of a lakh students this year in govt schools was a great achievement.He said that students would excel in life only when they were provided with education and discipline. “Backwardness is not linked to assets or social status. Lack of education is the true form of backwardness. Govt‘s main objective is to increase state revenue and distribute the benefits to the poor,” he said.Criticises Opposition on his resignationChief minister Revanth Reddy, who handles the education portfolio, lashed out at the opposition for their demand to relinquish his education portfolio. “Why should I resign from the education portfolio? Is it because breakfast is being provided from nursery to class 12 students? Managing teacher recruitment and promotions, and transforming ITIs into ATCs. Is it because a Skills University was established to equip students with skills, and the heads of globally successful corporate organisations were appointed to the Skills University’s board?” he asked.Revanth Lambasted PM:The CM lambasted PM Narendra Modi for the mounting debt. The total debt incurred by prime ministers from the time of Independence till 2014 was ₹50 lakh crore. The debt incurred by Modi between 2014 and 2026 was ₹151 lakh crore. Now, the country’s total outstanding debt stands at ₹201 lakh crore.He criticised those attacking Nehru, saying they were ignoring the fact that he transformed a famine-hit, illiterate country into a more prosperous one through irrigation and educational institutions. He also objected to criticism of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, saying she defeated Pakistan, split that country into two, and worked for ‘Garibi Hatao’.
