Bengaluru is bracing for a sleepless Sunday. As Spain and Argentina face off in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final on July 19, the city’s football lovers are lining up watch parties, lucky rituals and late-night plans. And this year, they have more room to do it in style. The Karnataka government has allowed pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants to stay open till 3.30 am on the match day. Sunday night will be much more than just 90 minutes of football as fans are gearing up to make a night of the biggest game of the tournament.‘I set an alarm so that I don’t miss out on the game’For 27-year-old Bengaluru-based football fan Roshini, missing a World Cup match is simply not an option. “I always set at least two alarms before every late-night match. Once the game starts, my phone goes on silent, snacks are ready, and I wear my lucky Argentina jersey. Everyone at home knows not to disturb me during the match. If Argentina wins, we’re definitely stepping out for a late-night drive to celebrate,” she shares with much excitement.‘Watching the match at home is more convenient’Not everyone is chasing the pub experience. Another football fan, Rajashree, says the city’s football craze has made finding tables harder than expected. “Given the football craze this year, I’d rather have friends over than risk not finding a table at a pub. It’s great that places can stay open till 3.30 am, but for this final, home feels like the best place to watch the game together,” she says.‘We’re putting up bigger LED screens‘Restaurants and breweries that saw packed houses during the semifinals are expecting an even bigger turnout for the final. Fino Frangline, founder of a brewery in the city, says the extended timings have come as a huge boost for both businesses and football fans. “The semifinal screening was a full house despite the short notice. That clearly showed Bengaluru was waiting for an opportunity like this. For the final, we’re putting up bigger LED screens, adding jersey-themed offers for fans, and keeping our staff ready with a streamlined menu so service remains smooth even through the night. The World Cup is a celebration that comes only once in four years, and these extended timings allow fans to enjoy it the way they always wanted,” he says.Where to watch the final FIFA matchArena, Brigade Road Watson’s, IndiranagarTales of flamingo (TOF), ArekereOORU Market, KoramangalaSkyDeck by Sherlock’s, MG RoadMykos Craft Kitchen & Bar, JP NagarMannheim Craft Brewery, Whitefield
