Gurgaon: Bomb threat emails triggered a massive security response on Monday after multiple schools and Mini Secretariat received messages claiming explosive devices had been planted on their premises.Sources said the email also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed rally in Jind on July 17 and threatened to target the event, prompting authorities to heighten security in both Gurgaon and Jind. Police said security arrangements at sensitive locations have been strengthened while the investigation continues.The schools that received the emails included Amity Public School (Sector 46), Air Force School (Sector 14), GD Goenka Public School (Sector 49), Salwan Public School (Sector 15), Blue Bells Model School and Delhi Public School.A representative of Blue Bells Model School told TOI the institution received the email in the morning, following which around 15-20 police personnel were deployed on the campus. As a precaution, parents were asked to pick up their children from school, while students who had arrived by school buses were sent back.According to the email, explosions were scheduled to take place at the schools around 1.10pm. Police teams, bomb disposal squads and dog squads conducted extensive searches at all the affected schools. Students and staff were safely evacuated, the schools were closed for the day and search operations continued for several hours.The email further claimed that an explosion would occur at the Mini Secretariat around 3.10pm. Security personnel carried out a thorough search of the premises, with police, bomb disposal squads and dog squads remaining deployed until the area was declared safe. Police said no explosives or suspicious objects were recovered from any of the locations during the searches.During the preliminary investigation, police found that the email originated from an IP address linked to Bangladesh. Cyber experts have been engaged to trace the sender and ascertain the authenticity and origin of the threat.Officials also said the email contained references to Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and singer Diljit Dosanjh, which are also being examined as part of the investigation.“Residents need not panic as police have conducted extensive checking at the schools and nothing suspicious was found. Security arrangements will remain on high alert while an investigation has been initiated,” police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said.
