Noida: It was a hectic Sunday for public health departments in two authorities. While a bull, which fell into a 10-foot-deep drain near Sector Gamma 2, was rescued by a GNIDA team, nine monkeys were caught by a Noida Authority team in Sector 19 following a complaint from the residents’ welfare association (RWA).The bull fell into the drain near DPS School. On being informed by passers-by, residents called GNIDA’s public health department, which took nearly two hours to rescue the bull with the help of an earthmover. Open drains remain a concern in several areas, residents told TOI. “Despite notifications over the past five years urging the need for better drainage solutions, authorities have yet to implement improvements. Fortunately, swift action was taken this time, averting potential tragedy,” said Harinder Bhati, a resident of Greater Noida.In Noida’s Sector 19, over a dozen monkeys had been creating a nuisance, damaging pots, planters and property and had also injured some residents earlier. Following numerous complaints from the RWA a team from Noida Authority intervened under senior manager Kapil Singh from the public heath dept. The team was led by Shankar Sharma, animal capture expert to apprehend monkeys.
