Varanasi: A van ferrying children of a private school overturned after it was hit by a speeding private bus in Madhupur locality in the Mungra Badshahpur police station area of Jaunpur district, on Thursday morning. In the accident near Ukni village on the Sujanganj road, seven of the nine children were injured seriously.According to reports, the bus driver, in a bid to overtake, and hit the van. The impact caused the school van to overturn on the roadside. Locals rushed to the spot and pulled the children out of the vehicle. Mungra Badshahpur police reached the spot and assisted in rescue work.The students injured are Aditya Yadav, 11, Siddharth Yadav, 10, Prabhash Yadav, 12, Aniruddh Yadav, 10, Aryan Yadav, 10, Akash Tiwari, 10, and Shivam Tiwari, 8. They were rushed to CHC Sujanganj.After primary treatment, doctors referred Siddharth, Prabhash and Aditya to the district hospital due to their serious condition. The other injured children were treated at the CHC.SHO Gajanan Choubey, outpost in charge Dhananjay Rai and CO Pratima Verma reached the spot and gathered details of the incident.A large number of villagers and parents gathered at the site after learning about the accident and checked on the condition of their children. SHO said all the injured had been admitted to hospital and were undergoing treatment. The bus was taken into police custody.
