40-year-old share trader found dead in city hotel, family alleges murder

Jaipur: A 40-year-old trader was found dead in a hotel room in Jaipur’s Narayan Vihar area Wednesday, leading police to probe allegations of murder levelled by his family and examine the role of a few friends who were allegedly in the room with him the night before.Police said the deceased, Guru Prasad Chaudhary, was a resident of Nityanand Nagar on Gandhi Path. His body was found lying on a bed in the hotel room, prompting family members to lodge an FIR alleging murder.DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma, however, said preliminary investigation and the post-mortem report did not indicate any signs of foul play. He said the death appeared to be linked to excessive alcohol consumption, though further investigations remain ongoing.Police said Chaudhary, a share market trader, left home Monday noon after telling family members he was going to meet up with friends. Even when he did not return by night and his phone was unreachable, the family did not immediately raise an alarm as he was in the habit of staying away for days without notice, police said. When hotel staff found the door to Chaudhary’s room unlocked around midnight, they entered and found him lying motionless on the bed, police said. His family was informed in the early hours of Wednesday.Police are also looking into a Facebook Live video allegedly broadcast by some of Chaudhary’s friends after they left his hotel room. Although the video was later deleted, it showed them discussing what happened inside the hotel room, police said.
