40% of voters data digitised under SIR; 98% enumeration forms distributedLudhiana: Nearly 98% of the enumeration forms have been distributed and nearly 40% of the voter data has been digitized as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of the electoral rolls continues in the district.Deputy election commissioner, ECI, Bhanu Prakash Yeturu and chief electoral officer, Punjab, Anindita Mitra on Wednesday chaired a review meeting in Ludhiana to assess the ongoing house-to-house distribution and collection of enumeration forms under the SIR-2026 exercise. The meeting was attended by deputy commissioners-cum-district election officers of Ludhiana, SBSNagar, Faridkot, Moga, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Malerkotla, who reviewed the pace of the revision exercise in theirrespective districts.Ludhiana deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer Himanshu Jain said the Election Commission appreciated the progress made by the district administration. He added that the deputy election commissioner said that asmany voters as possible should be mapped as possible.The Deputy Commissioner said the SIR progress is on track and nearly 40per cent of the voter mapping data has been digitised , he said.Digitization is expected to enable faster verification and processing ofelectoral records.Election officials said that around 98 per cent of the enumeration forms have been distributed in the district. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) aresimultaneously collecting the filled forms through door-to-door visits andare making special efforts to reach the remaining voters to ensure that noeligible elector is left out of the revision exercise.Ludhiana, has 26,83,999 registered electors, including 14,17,933 malevoters, 12,65,931 female voters and 135 third-gender voters. As many as2,927 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 292 supervisors, 14 ElectoralRegistration Officers (EROs), 28 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers(AEROs) and 70 Additional AEROs have been deputed to carry out theintensive house-to-house verification.Officials said digitisation of voter mapping is an important step as itallows field data collected by BLOs to be integrated into the ElectionCommission’s digital system, making scrutiny and verification moreefficient while reducing the chances of duplication or errors.Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), every elector is required to submitan enumeration form to facilitate verification and updation of theelectoral roll. The exercise includes verification of existing electors,correction of entries wherever required and identification of new eligiblevoters.The district administration officials appealed to all eligible voters, whohave not yet submitted their enumeration forms to submit the forms at theearliest so that the electoral roll can be updated accurately within thestipulated timeline.
