Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday announced that one lakh youths would be provided govt jobs over the next six months, with 77,000 of the recruitments to be made in the police and home guards departments.Addressing a gathering in Gorakhpur after inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for 119 development projects worth around Rs 40 crore, Yogi said the recruitment process would begin on Sept 19.Yogi said that state govt had so far provided govt jobs to around 9.5 lakh youths and that another one lakh would be recruited before the announcement of the next election.He contrasted the recruitment process with the situation before 2017, alleging that a “Saifai syndicate” used to extort money whenever govt vacancies were advertised.The CM announced that the pension amount and the number of beneficiaries under the state’s welfare schemes for elderly people, destitute women and people with disabilities would soon be increased. Currently, around 1.1 crore beneficiaries receive an annual pension of Rs 12,000.Yogi said the rule of law and a secure environment were essential for development and the availability of public amenities. He claimed that since 2017, govt had established the rule of law in UP and created a new chain of development and infrastructure projects.“Mafia are either in jail or have departed for the other world,” he said, adding that people were now assured of security and a conducive atmosphere for festivals.Highlighting the state’s economic transformation, Yogi said UP was no longer a “BIMARU” state but had emerged as a growth engine of the country’s economy. He said poor law and order and an atmosphere of “loot, anarchy and disorder” before 2017 had discouraged outsiders from working in the state.“The state is now attracting investment because of improved infrastructure, connectivity and law and order. The govt is working to create further employment opportunities for young people through industrial expansion and development projects,” he said.“Uttar Pradesh is now known for rule of law and is free from curfews, riots and anarchy. Mafias in Uttar Pradesh are either in jail or have undertaken a journey to the other world,” he said.He said poor law and order, extortion and disorder before 2017 discouraged outsiders from working in the state. “Today, Uttar Pradesh is attracting investment and becoming known for improved infrastructure, industrial growth and connectivity,” the CM said.Yogi also cautioned people against those who “sought to divide society on caste, regional and linguistic lines”.“Development is the result of social unity. If we divide ourselves in the name of caste, region and language, those who divide society will again create an atmosphere of curfew and riots and spread insecurity,” he said.He also cited the reopening of the fertiliser factory in Gorakhpur, four-lane road connectivity, flyovers and overbridges, the development of Ramgarh Tal as a tourism destination, improvements at BRD Medical College and the establishment of AIIMS in Gorakhpur as examples of the city’s transformation.Yogi also highlighted employment generated through industrial development in Gorakhpur. Referring to the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), he said around 500 factories had been established in the industrial area, providing employment to nearly 50,000 youths.He said the growth of industries also helped reduce migration from the region and created new opportunities for local youngsters.He said a week-long special camp would be organised from Oct 7 under the “Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan” to identify and provide benefits to those who had been left out of schemes for various reasons. The campaign is being organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life.During his Gorakhpur visit, Yogi inaugurated the newly constructed Kalyan Mandapam at Jungle Nakha No. 2 and laid the foundation stones for 115 development works of Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation.The 115 municipal projects, for which foundation stones were laid, involved basic infrastructure works in various colonies and have an estimated cost of Rs 28.91 crore.
