CHENNAI: A three-day special drive kick-started in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday to enrol young and first-time eligible electors, chief electoral officer Archana Patnaik said.In a statement, the CEO said special focus would be given to urban areas and major cities to increase the enrolment of young and first-time eligible electors. The services of electoral literacy clubs in schools and colleges would be effectively utilised to create awareness among the target group, she said. There are around 1,300 electoral literacy clubs in the state.Patnaik said special drives would also be conducted in districts, wherever it is required, on Oct 10 for the same purpose.Patnaik said regular meetings would be held by electoral registration officers with booth level officers to review and monitor the progress of the special drive and ensure its effective implementation.
