10km lake run in Bengaluru draws crowds, promotes fitness & eco awareness

Bengaluru: The inaugural Bengaluru Lake Run held Sunday brought together citizens, environmentalists, and fitness enthusiasts for a 10km run connecting Jakkur and Rachenahalli lakes in north Bengaluru.Organised under the supervision of minister and Byatarayanapura MLA Krishna Byre Gowda as part of Environment Day celebrations, the event aimed to raise awareness about conservation while encouraging physical fitness and community participation. The run was held amid the scenic surroundings of the two lakes, which have emerged as important public and ecological spaces in the city. Organisers said the initiative sought to strengthen citizens’ connection with Bengaluru’s lakes and highlight the need to protect urban waterbodies.Apart from the 10km run, the participants could also take part in the ‘Majaa Run’, which featured timed and untimed 3.5km runs, allowing people of different age groups and fitness levels to join the event.The participants completed the routes, displaying enthusiasm, endurance, and community spirit. According to the organisers, close to 3,000 people took part in the event, including the minister.
