Noida: Residents of Sector 3 in Greater Noida West have demanded a full replacement of the area’s drinking water pipeline after it developed 10 leakages in a month, flooding roads, disrupting household supply and leading to cave-ins.The ageing pipeline has developed leakages repeatedly at different points along its length. On Monday, widespread leakages disrupted supply across the sector. By Tuesday, pressure had dropped so much that many households received little or no water.Earlier this week, a pipeline burst around 8am flooded a section of road in D-Block, causing the surface to cave in and affecting traffic in the area.Residents say repeated patch repairs have failed to hold. “The entire pipeline needs to be replaced. Simply fixing patches daily won’t help. It will just burst again,” said Ashish Kumar.Deo Raj Tiwari, another resident of the area, said low pressure was an added concern. Another resident, Sushil Kumar Jain, called for simultaneous road reconstruction. Despite repeated complaints to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), residents claimed no lasting fix has been forthcoming.
