Woman jumps into Tamsa river with infant son

Varanasi: Holding her three-month-old son, a 22-year-old woman, resident of Ramapur village under Jiyanpur police station area of Azamgarh district, jumped into Tamsa River on Monday.Villagers launched a rescue effort and was pulled the woman out alive near Panshabda village, about 3 km away and was admitted to a hospital. The infant died while the mother’s condition is stable.According to family members, the woman had been residing in her parental home in Ramapur for the past two months. She was married around two years ago to Amarnath Yadav, resident of Ainpur village. Her father, Narsingh Yadav, said she was afflicted by brain fever about three months ago, after which her mental condition got unstable.Jiyanpur police reached the spot and initiated process for post mortem examination of the child after which the body was cremated.
