Ahmedabad: Fourteen iPhones allegedly vanished from a parcel inside a luxury bus travelling from Pune to Ahmedabad. The phones, valued at Rs 10.7 lakh, were reportedly removed while the driver and cleaner were distracted.The parcel’s sender approached Ramol police on Monday.According to the complaint, the theft took place between 10.30am on July 15 and 3.30pm on July 16. The parcel, sent by a 28-year-old Pune resident originally from Rajasthan, was to be delivered in the CTM area.Police said the accused was travelling on a seat booked in another person’s name. He allegedly took advantage of the driver’s and cleaner’s inattention, opened the parcel at an unidentified location, and removed the 14 phones.A case has been registered against a man identified in the complaint as a resident of Himmatnagar.The stolen phones were of different models, according to the complaint. Police are examining the bus route, passenger details and movements during the journey to establish where the theft occurred and trace the devices.Police are also checking whether the passenger used a false identity when booking the seat and are examining CCTV footage and travel records related to the bus.
