GURGAON: A 52-year-old house help lost her life after being struck by a Mahindra Thar inside the stilt parking area of a residential society in Sector 67, Gurgaon, on Tuesday afternoon.According to police, the Thar was being driven by a private school teacher.The deceased, Guddi, was originally from Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh and lived with her family in Bhondsi.She worked as a house help for a family residing on the fourth floor of Ansal Versalia, the society where the incident occurred.According to police, the accident took place between 2 pm and 2.20 pm while Guddi was resting in the stilt parking area.At the same time, a woman resident of the fourth floor of the same building returned home from work and was attempting to park her red Mahindra Thar when the SUV ran over Guddi.A senior police officer said the driver immediately realised what had happened, panicked and raised an alarm.She then reversed the vehicle and called nearby residents for assistance.As neighbours gathered at the scene, the woman brought out another car, placed Guddi inside it and drove her to a private hospital in Sector 68 for treatment.Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of Gurgaon Police, said Guddi succumbed to her injuries during treatment at around 4 pm.Police teams reached both the accident site and the hospital after receiving information through the police control room.During the initial investigation, officers found that the SUV had run over Guddi’s chest.Doctors informed police that she had suffered multiple fractures and severe internal injuries, which proved fatal.Police have seized the Mahindra Thar involved in the incident and are examining CCTV footage from the society to determine the exact sequence of events.Following the accident, several house helps employed in the society, along with their family members, gathered at the spot.Police remained present to ensure the situation remained under control.The body was shifted to the government mortuary later in the evening for a post-mortem examination scheduled for Wednesday.An investigator said police were yet to receive a formal complaint, and therefore an FIR had not yet been registered.
