Varanasi: Bhelupur police station’s cyber crime cell on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old resident of Khojwa for sharing of child sexual abuse material through Instagram.An FIR against him was lodged on Tuesday by in charge of the Bhelupur cyber unit Sandeep Singh after an international cyber tip line flagged the sharing of child porn material on social media.Singh on Wednesday said that he received an alert through the national cyber crime reporting portal’s tab originated from the US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) related to suspected online circulation of illegal content involving minors. After investigation it was discovered that a 1.13 minute short video containing highly objectionable material, showing a girl and a boy, aged around 12 making physical relation and another boy of 13 years filming their act with a mobile, was shared from an Instagram account, Singh said, adding police analysed the user ID, registration details, call detail records and customer application form linked with the mobile number used for the account.The investigation confirmed involvement of one Himanshu Singh Kunder alias Himanshu Thakur of Khojwa bazaar under Bhelupur police station in uploading this video, said Singh, mentioning his mobile number and device details connected to the Instagram account helped in confirming his involvement.In view of the seriousness of the offence, an FIR under section 67B (publishing or transmitting of material depicting children in sexually explicit act) of IT Act was lodged against Himanshu who was caught with his electronic devices used in the incident.Officials said digital evidence will be preserved and examined as part of the continuing investigation. They highlighted how this case cleared that growing coordination between Indian cyber authorities and global online safety reporting mechanisms and platforms resulting prompt action against cyber crimes and criminals.
