Noida: A senior UP govt official partying with friends late into Friday night died after falling from the first-floor window of his hotel room in Greater Noida. Police suspect Hargovind Singh (63) lost his balance while trying to close the glass window, which had no grille.Singh, general manager of Invest UP in Lucknow, had come to Greater Noida for the UP International Trade Show, where he was overseeing admin and HR-related work. His body was found on the walkway outside Grand Oasis Hotel in Beta-2 around 7.30am.Police said Singh had been partying in his room with five to six friends till late into Friday night. Four of them left later, while Singh and a colleague remained in the room. The window, police said, had been opened during the gathering.“We came to know that the room’s window, which did not have a grille, was opened by them during the party. It’s suspected that when Singh was closing the window, he lost control and fell to the ground,” said Vinod Kumar Singh, SHO of Beta-2 police station.Cops are examining if Singh was drunk, which may have led him to lose his balance.Singh’s colleague, who was staying at the same hotel, helped police identify him. Forensic teams examined the room and collected evidence. Police said nothing suspicious had emerged so far, and Singh’s family, too, hadn’t raised any doubts about the circumstances.His body was sent for an autopsy and later handed over to his family on Saturday. No case was registered till late on Sunday evening.
