Noida: A group of men travelling in a black Thar allegedly harassed and chased two sisters who were on a scooter near Sector 52 metro station on Wednesday. The men allegedly made lewd comments, honked and flashed their headlights before attempting to intercept the women. When the sisters tried to speed away, the accused allegedly chased them and threatened them with a pistol.The incident took place around 12.30 am when the sisters were travelling from Sector 73 towards Sector 59 with some goods to help their family shift to a new house. Their parents were travelling separately in a car at some distance.According to a complaint filed by one of the sisters at Sector 24 police station, the women were riding their scooter near Sector 52 metro station when the Thar approached them. While the number of men in the car is not clear, the women claimed they allegedly began passing comments from the moving vehicle and repeatedly honked and flashed their headlights. They allegedly came close to the scooter and attempted to harass the sisters.Feeling uncomfortable and frightened, the elder sister accelerated the scooter in an attempt to get away. The Thar driver allegedly increased the vehicle’s speed and continued to follow them for nearly 2-3 minutes. The accused allegedly came close to the scooter, flashed a pistol and threatened the women to stop.The sisters raised an alarm and shouted for help, following which the men allegedly sped away. The women subsequently informed their family members and approached Sector 24 police station.A video in which the two sisters recount their ordeal has also circulated on social media. In the 1-minute clip, the elder sister said she was too frightened and in a hurry and failed to note the car’s registration number.Police said a case for sexual harassment has been registered based on the complaint and an investigation is underway. Officials said they were examining CCTV footage from cameras installed around the spot to identify the vehicle and its occupants.A senior officer said police are investigating the complaint and using CCTV footage to establish the sequence of events and identify the accused, with further action to follow based on the investigation.
