Kolkata: Consulate general of Nepal in Kolkata has been coordinating with the state govt to track and share data of hundreds of missing foreign nationals, including pilgrims and tourists from Bengal, following the devastating flash floods along the Tibet-Nepal border, Consul General J P Acharya said on Thursday.The catastrophic flash floods have disrupted communication networks, road links and internet connectivity.“I am using my personal contacts to establish some communication with those affected by the tragedy. We are getting enquiries from Indians in Kolkata and other parts of the state,” Acharya told TOI. However, no Nepali national from the city has approached them so far.Deputy consul general, Deepesh Lekhak, said, “So far, 239 people have been rescued by helicopter, and the operation is ongoing.” He added that information from Chinese immigration points on the Tibet border is also being assessed. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, a preliminary record has identified 644 travellers, including 127 Nepali nationals, reported missing from the affected areas.
