Ghaziabad: Three people have been arrested for shooting at a youth over a property dispute in Behta Hajipur village in Loni on Tuesday. A video of the incident showing a man firing a pistol multiple times from a rooftop, while another person pelting stones at the villagers, has since surfaced online.Police said the victim, Sandeep, was shot multiple times in his leg and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. More than five rounds of bullets were allegedly fired. An FIR was registered at the Loni Border police station based on the complaint of a resident of the village, Nepal Singh.Singh told the cops that for over a year he had an ongoing dispute over a plot with Rishipal, Vikrant and Gajendra. He had taken the matter to the court and it had allegedly passed an interim order. It said that the opposite party, which included the three men, should not object that the land belonged to Singh. They would not stop any construction work done by Singh on the contested piece of land and would not build any structure on that land themselves.Since the order, the enmity between the two parties had grown. The men had allegedly threatened to kill Singh multiple times or occupy his plot forcibly over the past year.The matter escalated on Sept 21. “Around 11 am, I was standing on the plot with some villagers when Rishipal, Vikrant and Gajendra and another unidentified person started pelting stones and bricks at us from the roof of a house that they had illegally built on the plot,” Singh said. “Vikrant tried to kill me and fired his father’s licensed revolver but he missed and the bullet struck my associate Sandeep on his left thigh. He fell to the ground and was drenched in blood before police sent him to the hospital. His condition is serious.”ACP (Ankur Vihar) Amardeep Maurya said police have arrested the three men and seized the licensed pistol that was used to fire at Sandeep. A case has been registered against the men under BNS sections 109 (1) (attempt to murder), 125 (b) (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation).
