Telangana Gazetted Lecturers Association urges state govt to delay Intermediate board merger with SSC

DoneHyderabad: The Telangana Gazetted Lecturers Association (TGLA) on Thursday urged the state govt to put on hold its reported proposal to merge the SSC and Intermediate boards for this academic year and immediately begin the admissions process for Intermediate courses. The association said the govt had not held consultations with stakeholders and warned against taking hasty decisions with barely a month left for the new academic year.“The govt should proceed with Intermediate admissions in the same manner as last year. The indecision is creating confusion among lakhs of students and parents. The lack of clarity from the government is a matter of concern,” said V Srinivas of TGLA.The lecturers stressed that Intermediate education has always functioned independently and plays a crucial role in a student’s academic journey. They said speculation over a possible merger was growing after the Intermediate Board first issued admission notifications for 2026-27 and then abruptly kept them in abeyance the next day.“There is still no clear statement from the chief minister, who also holds the education portfolio, on whether Intermediate education will be merged with school education. If such a proposal exists, the govt should come out with clarity immediately and continue admissions without delay,” said TGLA general secretary K Suresh. The association also demanded an immediate meeting with stakeholders before any decision is taken, adding that delays were hurting govt colleges the most, while private and corporate colleges had already begun admissions and even started classes for the new academic year.
