Chennai: Tambaram police seized 53g of ganja from six students during surprise checks at private apartments in and around Potheri on Saturday morning. The seizes were done after police received a tip off about college students having and using narcotic substances.An assistant commissioner of police along with five inspectors, 10 sub-inspectors and 80 other police personnel went for the search, during which they found the 53g of ganja. The substance was suspected to have been kept for personal consumption by the six students. Police also recovered other materials related to drug use.Cases were registered against the students, but they were not arrested. Police said the quantity seized was small and the offences were bailable. Investigators are questioning the students to gather information about the persons who supplied the substance.
