Hyderabad: In line with the state cabinet’s decision, the govt on Saturday constituted a 27-member multidisciplinary expert committee to assess the likely impact of El Nino conditions, recommend mitigation and adaptation measures, and prepare comprehensive state- and district-level contingency plans.The committee comprises experts from research institutions, universities and relevant govt departments. Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman G Chinna Reddy has been appointed chairman, while the director of agriculture will serve as the convenor.The panel will hold consultations with stakeholders from time to time and prepare contingency plans at the state, district and mandal levels. It will also submit periodic recommendations to the govt.
