Jaisalmer: A suspect, detained Thursday night from the Kharia border under Jaisalmer’s Nachna police station area, on suspicion of spying for Pakistani intelligence agency ISI was moved to the Central Investigation Centre, Jaipur, Friday. A joint team from the special branch’s technical cell, Jaipur, and the local border intelligence police took him there after initial questioning.Several details were revealed during questioning. Over the past two years, he is alleged to have sent dozens of photos and videos of strategic importance to an ISI handler. It was alleged that ISI deposited significant sums into his and his relatives’ accounts.According to reliable sources, Mustak Ali told the Jaipur team that an ISI handler got in touch with him through his Pakistan-based cousin in June 2024. He was asked to share photos, videos and information about army movements in Jaisalmer.Ali added that he recorded and sent across the border photos and videos of water points, hospitals, border roads, military movements, a video of the outer area of the Jaisalmer Military Station, and other infrastructure. In exchange, small amounts of money were deposited into his, relatives’ and friends’ accounts. Preliminary information indicates that about Rs 25,000 in total was deposited.
