Pune: Eminent archaeologist and former Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) regional director K K Muhammed and historian and author Anirudh Kanisetti will receive Late Shri Prakashchandra Surana Awards at Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute in Yerawada on Monday.The awards, instituted by Quantum Foundation, recognise contributions to history. Muhammed will receive Late Shri Prakashchandra Surana Historian Award, while Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar winner Kanisetti will be presented with Digital Historian Award. This is the fifth edition of the awards, organisers said.The foundation will also launch Quantum Scholarship this year to support students and researchers working in history. The first scholarship will be awarded to Pune researcher Sujay Khalate for his doctoral research in ancient Indian history, culture and archaeology. The scholarship will provide financial and academic support for his PhD work.Pratik Surana, of Quantum Foundation, said the event is open to the public and invited history enthusiasts, researchers and students to attend.
